Homeowners break ground on net zero energy home

Homeowners Tom and Verona Chambers are the first participants in WPPI’s GreenMax Home program and broke ground on what is expected to be one of the first net zero energy homes (NZEH) in the region.

Through WPPI’s GreenMax Home program, the Chambers have designed and are constructing a net zero home that combines state-of-the-art, energy-efficient construction and appliances with commercially available renewable energy systems. Read More

WPPI members power state toward renewables goal

Together, the WPPI member municipal electric utilities of Boscobel, Menasha, Plymouth, Richland Center, River Falls and Waupun are helping the State of Wisconsin to reach its renewable energy goals.

The six WPPI member utilities, each of which hosts a state facility, will sell a total of 33,000 megawatt-hours of renewable energy per year to the state. Read More
WPPI diversifies renewable energy portfolio

WPPI is reorganizing its power supply portfolio and diversifying its renewable energy portfolio.

WPPI has signed an amendment to the power purchase agreement with Butler Ridge, LLC, a subsidiary of Babcock & Brown, agreeing to purchase 20 megawatts (MW) of renewable energy from the Butler Ridge Project. In order to diversify its renewable portfolio, WPPI is discussing a purchase of 30 MW of renewable energy from a wind farm being constructed in Iowa.
